Prof. Zaleha KAMARUDIN

Prof. Zaleha Kamarudin is a Professor of Law at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation, International Islamic University Malaysia specializing in Comparative Family Laws and Islam & Gender. In 2011, She was appointed as the first female rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia, making her the first woman to head an Islamic university in the Muslim world. She is also the first woman to be appointed as a Shariah Appellate Court Judge in Malaysia. She sat on several Technical Committees drafting of model laws relating to protection of women’s rights. Currently, she is a member of the OIC Women Advisory Council.
